The following is and insert from "Destination - Sowing and Reaping" Chapter 1. This portion of the story explains how a practical joke left one man dead and another man blamed for his murder. Mike, the antagonist in the story is described here. In some way's this insert describes his motivation for doing what he did to cause what he caused.
Mike was albino. He had a pale complexion with platinum blond hair. His eyes were a mix of blue and pink but turned red when he was angry. He had perfect vision unlike most albinos. His skin complexion was the brunt of most of the jokes told about him, but they didn’t seem to faze him. When someone tried cracking a joke on Mike, Mike attacked with a full barrage of jokes that sent most people into a fighting fury. Mike defused fights with reason. “You cracked on me, and I cracked on you. That’s all. Let’s be friends.” Mike was very persuasive. Mike, Bob, and James often found themselves at odds with each other because of there practical joking. Bob and James were friends, and Mike was an outsider looking in. Mike was the brunt of winless practical jokes because Bob and James sometimes ganged up on him. When he’d lose a battle he always seemed to brush it off. He’d smile and pretend it didn’t faze him, but it did. What goes up must come down is Mike’s philosophy. He was waiting for his time to go up.
In the practical jokes arena, Mike at most times was a middleweight. He’d exchange titles with James occasionally when Bob wasn’t present to assist him. Sometimes on the job site Bob, James, Mike and others all stood around joaning on each other. Joaning is slang for joking on each other such as, your momma jokes, your wife is so fat jokes, and general outrageous jokes on the clothes they were wearing, their body or facial features, and even mistakes they made on the job. Nothing was safe. During a joaning session Mike at one time was getting close to taking the heavy weight title from Bob. He had the whole yard laughing nonstop. It was like playing one on one basketball and getting the ball in the hoop every time. Each time the ball hit the hoop it went back to the person shooting. The person with the ball was allowed to keep shooting until he or she got to 10 winning the game. It was one of those days. Mike was killing him until he missed that 10th shoot allowing Bob to take ball. Once Bob got the ball he shot straight three’s, free throws, and slam drunks going into extreme over drive. Bob took their 10-point game to 20 causing the crowd to erupt into earth shattering laughter. Mike simply smiled, laughed, and pretended it didn’t affecting him.
